India skipper Virat Kohli tell players to be active and be accountable for their IPL 2019 fitness. India has been playing non-stop cricket since last year. However, as they slot into their respective IPL teams, the players will hardly get a break. Therefore, the captain has directed his boys to take the responsibility on themselves.
“We entrusted the player with the responsibility of being smart and informing the respective franchises and being in touch with the Indian Team physio (Patrick Farhart). So during the IPL, all things will be monitored. Given a window where guys can afford to rest, I can guarantee that they will take this opportunity,” Virat Kohli tell players.
“World Cup comes every four years and every year we play IPL 2019 (not to say we’re not going to be committed to playing the IPL) but we need to be smart and make smart decisions. That’s a factor discuss,” said Virat Kohli.
“No one will force to do anything but at the end of the day, everyone knows no one wants to miss the World Cup bus,” Virat Kohli adds.
The World Cup will start in the UK on May 30 while the IPL will start on March 23. India would hence seek to preserve its quality assets, including the fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shama, as well as Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal wrist spinners. However, IPL teams still need to receive workload management guidelines.
