Forbes has published a list of top 10 highest paid bollywood actors & actresses after their list of the world’s top paid celebrity male and female actors.

The earnings are from 1 June 2016 to 1 June 2017 and are based on data from Box Office India, Box Office Mojo, IMDB, interviews with the press, etc. While SRK tops the list as Bollywood highest paid actor, it is interesting to note that only 2 female actors are on the list. Forbes says that the highest paid actors of both Bollywood and Hollywood continue to earn their female counterparts out.

There are only two female highest paid bollywood actors who can get on the list, and it feels unfair somewhere. While film industries around the world still fight for equal pay for women, India’s story is not very different as well. It’s amazing to note, but according to the World Economic Forum, there is no country on Earth in which women do the same work as men.

While we have a Game Of Thrones that prides itself on paying its leading players the same amount of pay regardless of gender, we have lists like these that act as a dampener. We are glad to see Deepika and Priyanka in the list, but it would have been nice to see more female representation in the list, given that we have no lack of good talent in the sector. These two bankable stars still make less money than their masculine counterparts and are highest paid celebrities.

Bollywood produces the largest number of films in the world, while a dozen films are purely based on a female character, we are still debating whether they should receive the same amount of money as their male counterparts and are in the list of highest paid bollywood actors and actresses.
